THE 2017 BRITISH SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP- WHAT TO EXPECT!

With the championship giving us some of the most exciting racing on two wheels, we give you the lowdown read for April!

BeWiser PBM Ducati

There is no change in terms of reigning champions; with Shane Byrne and Glenn Irwin competing again on Panigale R’s, we’re sure they both will be a force to be reckoned with. Shane is a five-time champ, and Irwin is a podium finisher in an incredibly impressive first season. JG Speedfit Kawasaki Kawasaki have enjoyed two outstanding seasons with Luke Mossey, and with more support, this year is looking to be a breakthrough season for heaps of young talent! Leon Haslam will be on the hunt to win; both riders will be in undoubtedly in the fight for the title. McAMS Yamaha James Ellison and Michael Laverty are both looking to take their first championships in the British premier class; these guys are finally ready and have finally made the step up to the big class. Tyco BMW BMW has had their fair share of bad luck, but this year, they’re back and stronger than ever. The signing of former European Superstock champion Davide Giugliano shows that they mean business! They also made a great move keeping Christian Iddon after his astonishing results in 2016! Honda Racing Get ready to be blown away by the fantastic new Fireblade from Honda at this years championship. And keep your eyes peeled for O’Halloran and Linfoot, as there is no telling what they will be capable of on the new model after that brilliant showing last year. Bennetts Suzuki The reigning Superstock 1000 champions have promoted Taylor Mackenzie to the role of Superbike and signed Sylvain Guintoli for a full-on title attack.

With the support of the UK Racing Division and the experienced Billy McConnell on board for another year, they will most certainly be on the hunt for a showdown spot. So that’s how the British Superbike Championship is shaping up, and it looks to be a good one! We can’t wait to see the new Fireblade in action and get a glimpse of some of the brilliant new talents that are sure to break through this year.
